Because the saints were speaking. Some still inside. Some long departed. But all of them carried stories the pulpits were too afraid to acknowledge. “He preached grace, but left me in shame.” “She anointed my forehead and silenced my trauma.” “I was a tithe. I was a volunteer. I was never seen.” The testimonies were not rage. They were release. Scripture tells us: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces.” (Matthew 23:13) “They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger.” (Matthew 23:4) “You have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.” (Matthew 23:23) Jesus did not remain neutral in the face of malpractice. He confronted leaders plainly, even at the cost of His reputation among them. And when survivors were silenced or discarded, He moved toward them: the Samaritan woman at the well, the woman caught in adultery, the leper shunned outside the camp. He restored dignity where institutions had abandoned. To remain silent is not Christlike; it is complicity. Neutrality is not the narrow road. It is the wide road that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13). It is with that conviction that I act now: not to protect reputation, but to call for repentance, restoration, and truth.
