Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. - Psalm 116:7–9 NKJV
This psalm was often sung at Passover; Jesus himself sang these words with His voice at the table, hours before Gethsemane and his profound prayer to our Father in Heaven.
Our Father calls our soul to rest, that we may repent for all the times we have acted out of despair. He is near to the lowly and broken-hearted and offers our soul a peace that transcends understanding.
He does not ignore the times it feels as though your feet are falling; He calls our soul to return to His embrace. Jesus has made a way for us to move forward in His presence, with the Holy Ghost illuminating every step we take before the King of Kings and LORD of Hosts.
For the LORD to have dealt bountifully with you means it is already done; He is carrying you through the storm, no matter how far the night may have stretched. The completed work of Jesus Christ is the living proof that He has already made a way through every valley.
Return to your rest, O my soul, to all Jesus so graciously offers. No matter the storm, no matter the night that feels as though it’s beyond compare. He has made a way through; before His throne no anguish is too much for His tender, loving hand.
The light breaks through every dark and gloomy circumstance as we invite him in.
