“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” - Isaiah 43:2 NKJV.
The Good Shepherd leads His sheep by still waters. When the time comes to pass through them, it is our choice to trust Him as we journey through the rivers of life.
While there may be wind and, at times, the water may be rough, His peace transcends understanding even while the world may be shaking around us.
“He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” - Psalm 23:2-3 NKJV.
The presence of the Good Shepherd gives us reason for peace, to be governed by the LORD rather than allowing the wake behind us to govern our gaze. There is no reason to fear when the oars are in His hands, and He is leading us forward.
On some journeys, He calls us to sit by the still waters; at other times, He calls us to pass through. There have certainly been moments when I have held on to the boat for dear life and trusted Jesus with each forward motion.
Our journey may leave a wake, but the voice of the Good Shepherd remains ahead. We should not allow the waves or the wind to govern us. Let us focus on His voice and follow it through the storm.
