There is a difference between faith and trust.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
Scripture describes faith as substance; faith becomes our inner compass to see the LORD above our present circumstances. It is a gift that develops into a trust that engulfs our hearts and understanding, that we may acknowledge Him and trust the path He has for us.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
Trust becomes a refusal to lean on one’s own understanding while the LORD accomplishes the impossible or unforeseeable in our lives. When we truly place ourselves at His feet, it exposes and uproots fear. When we walk by faith and trust His will for us, we are drawn into a space where we can worship freely, openly and know we are a son or daughter of the King Most High.
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? - Psalm 56:3-4 NKJV
There are times you need to check your battle cry! Are you praising His name and word, or are you trusting in man? The fruit shows you the answer as you draw close to Him afresh. While David is afraid, he exclaims, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” It is not an absence of fear but a belief in the King of Kings and LORD of Hosts that overrules the darkest of nights.
Faith becomes being convinced that God will do what He said He will, and walking with Him through every high and every low, knowing He is beside you as you walk with Him.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. - Psalm 9:10 NKJV
How about we put our trust in the LORD and start leaning not on our own understanding. May I encourage you to draw close and let His presence draw you in. He is always with you and will never forsake you.
