There are many voices among us, but few speak about what takes place beneath the surface:

Sometimes, I struggle deeply to receive love, to find the words to express appreciation for those who stand with me. When someone is subject to a love that is conditional and tainted with an agenda, it leaves a mark that bears witness to those filled with the Holy Ghost.
When you are taught to fear people and emotionally withdraw at a moment of vulnerability, there is something critically wrong in the church, and it reflects on the leaders who build an empire.
Did you know that some leaders talk about you? I once received an email saying “I have done my homework James as any Pastor would in terms of your history with being offended with previous churches.” – to think the same pastor used the words that another screamed at the top of their lungs in another meeting, this is the trauma the LORD has delivered me from and needs to be exposed for the church and His people to heal.
When a ‘leader’ says things like “I strongly recommend you don’t come back” and “I don’t think we are the church for you.” That is a manifestation of something that is not God, that has deserted the Holy Ghost and begs to remain at the table. Did Jesus turn away people in pain? Rejected, trying to find their place among Him.
Jesus says He is your very present help in trouble, that we must not fear the snare of man, though the earth may shake, mountains may move around us and be carried into the sea; we must fear not, for the LORD our God has a place for you in His kingdom.
Can I encourage you that not all churches are the same? Some hear the LORD, who will want to walk with you and draw you into a place of complete restoration and healing. Do not judge the church for its imperfection but for the behaviour and fruit exhibited by its leaders; for we will know them by their fruit.
Our LORD is not a soft God; He is Alpha and Omega, He is the beginning and the end, and we will all be called to account for any harm inflicted on one of His own.
As the body, we need to separate the good fruit from the bad, to divide that which will lead to destruction and draw upon the wisdom and discernment that is always available to us when we cry out the name of Jesus Christ.
Let me encourage you that not all churches are the same; some have more trauma than others, and the greatest commandment is to love thy neighbour as thyself. Let’s get our priorities straight, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
