Let’s explore the deeper context of the LORD in Jeremiah 17.
Jeremiah was speaking into rebellion, compromise, a sense of false confidence, and an unyielding stubbornness that would not bow to the King of Kings and LORD of Hosts.
The people of Judah presented a religious image, yet had become inwardly diseased. They had language, ritual and an identity, but allowed their inner man to become crooked.
Separation from God had become intentional; it was internalised rather than stumbled into. In Jeremiah 17:9, we read:
The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?
The answer comes in verse 10…. But GOD can, and not from an external vantage but from the very depths of our soul and inner being. Man does not know his own heart fully, but the LORD does.
Why then do we draw away from Him when things become too much to bear? If the LORD knows us so perfectly, we must yield our fruit to Him and allow Him to prune our tree.
You are not hidden, and neither are you misunderstood; you are not unseen for the LORD has already searched your heart. And still… He calls you to come and join Him.
