As the Church, we must fix our eyes on Jesus. The word for looking here is aphoraō, which means to look away from everything else and to fix your gaze on one thing.
The moment we compare ourselves to others, that gaze fractures and the race before you becomes unstable.
Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”
John 21:21-22 NKJV
Peter looks at another disciple and measures his path, and Jesus cuts it off immediately. If we look at the Greek, the phrase translated “What is that to thee?” is ti pros se?
In modern language, Jesus is saying, “How is that your concern?”
May I encourage you to repent where you have compared yourself to another, and seek first the Kingdom of God, for then all will be made available to you.
